  • Why preventive care is even more important as you age
  • Is loss of bone strength and muscle mass inevitable?
  • The benefits of close connections with family and friends
  • Distinguishing between age-related memory loss and dementia
  • Recognizing the common health and safety risk factors of older adults
  • How to build a true health partnership with your primary care physician

That's A Fact: Forty percent of people with Parkinson's suffer from sleep disturbances caused by their PD, their medications, or both. And yet fatigue is a serious problem for people with Parkinson's even if sleep disturbance is not a factor. Rest is important in dealing with the disease. Often something as basic as a catnap of 20 minutes once or twice a day helps one stay as refreshed and alert as possible. A valuable resource for people with Parkinson's, their families and caregivers

Due to unforeseen circumstances within the neurology group, the August meeting of the Peninsula Parkinson's Support Group is unfortunately canceled. We will be back in September on our regularly-scheduled date and look forward to seeing you then.

Whether you have recently received a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, have been living with it for a short time or have been managing the disease for many years your Peninsula Parkinson's Support Group offers strategies on how to deal with challenges, enhance your health and wellness and maintain your quality of life to the highest degree possible. You have the opportunity to see how your experience, while unique to your particular situation, is part of a larger world of similar circumstances and people. Simply put, you realize that you are not alone.
